On April 12, 2016 the extended support for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 ends. From this date on, no more security patches are published for these systems. Additional support may be purchased from Microsoft but will most likely be quite expensive. If no such support contract is available, all Microsoft SQL Server 2005 installations will yield and automatic non compliance in any ASV scan and PCI DSS review.
